All HVAC duct systems need to be cleaned on a regular basis, usually every four or five years. At Southwest, we clean the entire air duct system to international performance standards established by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA). We clean the system from the point air enters the system at the return grille of the air conditioner (or in El Paso, the intake of the evaporative cooler) downstream through the duct, to the point air exits the system through the supply registers.
